Outlook anywhere\ RPC over HTTP hangs.....nedd to kill outlook process to start again......?????
Hi All, We have exchange 2007 SP2 Rollup 4 We have enabled our users to use Outlook Anywhere\ RPC over HTTP from outside\home But most of the users compain saying when doing send\recieve, opening a new mail message etc......the outlook Hangs.......(outlook 2010, 2007 2003) There is no reason which causes this but simply hangs... (Note: In the VPN it works fine as in side the network) Then need to kill the outlook processs....then it will come up... but it happens regularly..... What and all things we can check from our end to make sure the FEATURE is configured correctly. Manju

Hi, You could try to run the remote connectivity analyzer: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/03/25/3407129.aspx Leif

Hi Manju, Since they need to kill Outlook process when the issue occurs, I am suspecting there is client side issue, such as Outlook Add-in, third party application like anti-virus; please run Outlook in Safe mode, or run a clean boot to see if the issue reoccurs. Besides, we may run Outlook Anywhere in your internal network to isolate the fault from firewall if there is. To do this, select the option “On fast networks, connect …”, and then modify the local hosts file and point the proxy URL to the internal IP address of your CAS server. Doing so can bypass the firewall if there is any. If the issue disappears, we may confirm the issue is caused by the firewall; Additionally, we may launch Outlook Connection Status box, verify the number in “Req/Fail” column when the issue occurs. It can give us a sense of network condition. If the number appears huge or abnormal, there might be an network related issue; you might need to run network monitor trace tool to collect log for further analysis; Hope it is helpful. Fiona
